Annual conference will take place March 27\u201329 in San Diego<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching announced that U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will speak at its 9th annual Summit on Improvement in Education<\/a> conference taking place March 27\u201329 in San Diego. The Summit is a vibrant learning community for diverse groups of interdisciplinary educational professionals to come together and share how they are using improvement approaches to advance educational equity.<\/p>\n\n\n

<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are thrilled and honored that Secretary Cardona will join us for the Carnegie Summit,\u201d says Carnegie President Timothy Knowles. \u201cNow, more than ever, we need practitioners, policy leaders, philanthropists, and the social and commercial sector to join forces and break new ground for American children. The Secretary\u2019s leadership, engagement, and voice will help us achieve that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secretary Cardona and President Knowles will engage in a fireside chat that is open to all Summit attendees. Among other topics, they will discuss instructional engagement and recovery, reimagining educational systems to support success in K\u201312 and postsecondary systems, and putting equity at the center of educational work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am eager to participate in the Carnegie Summit to explore how our priorities at the U.S. Department of Education intersect with the Foundation\u2019s new areas of focus,\u201d says Secretary Cardona. \u201cIt should be a great conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a former teacher, principal, and district and state leader, Secretary Cardona knows the work and recognizes that now is the time for transformational leadership and learning,\u201d says Knowles. \u201cWe are lucky to have Secretary Cardona at the helm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the inception of Summit in 2014, thousands of school district leaders, principals, teachers, policymakers, researchers, and K\u201312 and higher education administrators across the country and around the world have taken up these methods. These educational leaders are challenging existing norms, learning new practices of quality improvement, and reinforcing a commitment to improve the nation\u2019s schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summit 2022 in-person conference will also have a virtual option. Registration<\/a> is currently open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
